Q2 2021 overview of investment fund sector

The value of the assets of Estonian public funds grew by 3.2% or 196.5 million euros in the second quarter of 2021 to stand at 6.34 billion euros in total at the end of the quarter. The growth in the second quarter was faster than the growth of 1.9% in the first.

The first half of 2021, including the second quarter, was favourable for the Estonian banking sector, which was in line with general developments in the economy.

Payment institutions operating in Estonia mediated payments of 110 million euros in the first quarter of 2021. The value of payments in the sector was 16% more than in the fourth quarter, and the number was 19% higher.

There were six investment firms operating in the market in the first quarter. There are no branches of foreign investment firms operating in the market in Estonia.

Q1 2021 overview of creditors sector

The number of contracts signed with creditors and credit intermediaries has fallen since the pandemic broke out. There were 11% fewer new loans issued in the first quarter of 2021 than the quarterly average for 2020 of 171,000, as 152,000 new contracts were issued in the quarter.
