Finantsinspektsioon is asking the market for its opinion on financial innovation

23/05/2019

Finantsinspektsioon is mapping the landscape of financial innovation in Estonia over the next two weeks, asking market participants for input on possible ways of using financial technology, and the related problems and possible solutions.

The public consultation on financial innovation will run from 23 May to 6 June 2019. Questions can be answered in two ways, either through an online form or by sending the completed questionnaire back to info@fi.ee.

Finantsinspektsioon is a supervisory authority whose strategic role in implementing ideas for financial innovation is to analyse potential supervisory areas, advise on enhancing the financial security network, and address the opportunities and risks inherent in financial innovation.

In this context, we are contributing to monitoring of financial innovation, responding to distortions in services, assessing risks and introducing appropriate measures without hindering innovation. Finantsinspektsioon provides direct contact with specialists in its field to support the legal qualification of novel products and services and to clarify the applicable legal framework.
